FILMS SHOTS IN MONACO - MELBA
In partnership with the Audiovisual Institute of Monaco, the Stamp Issuing Office is continuing its cinema series featuring the posters of films shot in Monaco.
A 1953 British film directed by Lewis Milestone, Melba is a biopic that tells the life story of famed soprano Nellie Melba. She emigrates from her native Australian to study singing in Paris, where she is taught by mezzo-soprano Mathilde Marchesi. Her debut performance in Brussels is a triumph. Later, her Australian suitor follows her to Monte-Carlo, in an effort to win her hand in marriage.
