JOINT ISSUE MONACO/CHINA - 30 YEARS OF DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS  

This year marks the 30^th anniversary of the formal establishment of diplomatic relations between the Principality of Monaco and the People’s Republic of China, two countries that maintain close ties in spite of the great distance that separates them. Diplomatic milestones between the nations in recent years include President Xi Jinping’s historic state visit to the Principality in 2019, which followed Prince Albert’s own state visits to China in 2007 and 2018. The two countries share similar positions on major issues, including climate change. Sport is another value shared by Monaco and China, while there are important economic links between Monegasque and Chinese entrepreneurs.
