60th ANNIVERSARY OF THE JEANNE D'ARC HELICOPTER CARRIER
Built by the Brest arsenal and originally named La Résolue, the Jeanne d'Arc helicopter carrier was commissioned on July 16, 1964. It received and trained during its 45 application campaigns more than 6 000 officers including H.S.H. Prince Albert II during the 1981/1982 campaign. A training ship, the Jeanne d'Arc was nonetheless a military vessel intended to intervene in the event of conflict. Measuring 181.38 m long and 24 m wide, the “Jeanne” was withdrawn from service on June 7, 2010. On the occasion of its 60th anniversary, an exhibition will be held in Brest from June 1 to November 3, 2024.
