50th ANNVERSARY OF THE RAMOGE AGREEMENT
To mark its 50th anniversary in 2026, the RAMOGE Agreement will be commemorated with a stamp celebrating half a century of cooperation between France, Monaco, and Italy for the protection of the Mediterranean. The design illustrates the Agreement's key actions, from preserving coastal and deep-sea biodiversity to combating marine pollution. The initial area, which gave its name to "RA.MO.GE" (territorial waters between Saint-Raphaël and Genoa, via Monaco), was extended in 1993 to include the waters from the mouth of the Rhône to the edge of Tuscany, thus covering a wider area for pollution control. From the surface to the deep sea, the stamp depicts a vibrant, monitored, and protected Mediterranean. This philatelic issue by Monaco pays tribute to the ongoing commitment to the sea and celebrates the pioneering initiative of Prince Rainier III, who launched the RAMOGE project.
