Centenary of the Ballets Russes 2
In the spring of 1909, Serge de Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes performed for the first time at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, offering a complete show and not simply a choreographic performance. In 1911, the company settled in Monaco. After years of international tours, it was dissolved in 1929 on the death of its founder. As part of the celebrations for the centenary of its creation, from June 2009 to July 2010 all of Monaco’s cultural institutions are offering an anthology of shows, exhibitions, concerts and meetings with the public.
