50th anniversary of the Nobel Prize in Literature to Boris Pasternak
From a family of cosmopolitan artists, Boris Leonidovitch Pasternak studied philosophy in Germany before returning to Moscow where he published his poetry collections. This stamp commemorates the Nobel Prize which he received in 1958 for his major work “Doctor Jivago”. More than an analysis of the Russian revolutionary struggles, this novel published in 1957 is first and foremost a love story inspired by his passionate relationship with Olga Ivinskaia from whom the character of Lara is drawn.
