170th ANNIVERSARY OF AUGUSTE RODIN’S BIRTH The great sculptor Auguste Rodin was born in Paris in 1840 and died in Meudon in 1917. In 1877, he created his first major work, L'Age d'Airain, so realistic in appearance that he was accused of using a cast taken directly from a living model.
