The Committee to promote and safeguard women’s rights was created on 25 October 2018 by Sovereign Ordinance. It was set up by Minister of State H.E. Serge Telle on 30 November 2018.The Committee’s remit is to coordinate, implement and evaluate national policies to promote gender equality and combat violence and discrimination against women. The Committee was established in accordance with the recommendations of international organisations which monitor women’s rights. It is made up of representatives from relevant government bodies, the Department of Justice and a Chief Officer for Women’s Rights. It also associates the Monegasque institutional entities with its work.
