Today, the Monegasque Red Cross is presided over by H.S.H. Prince Albert II. It was founded on 3 March 1948 by Prince Louis II; it was recognised in the same year by the International Committee of the Red Cross and admitted to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. With the help of its volunteers, the Monegasque Red Cross strives to meet the challenges posed by natural disasters, armed conflicts and displaced populations. At the local level, it is active in various fields - supporting the most disadvantaged people, providing training in nursing and first aid, running crèches and other types of childcare, organising the annual Gala, etc.
