The Lotus 49 was the first Formula 1 single-seater racing car with a stressed member engine to win a Grand Prix - the Zandvoort race in 1967 - with British driver Jim Clark at the wheel. In 1968, the Lotus 49, driven by Graham Hill, became world champion (manufacturer and driver).
